Coronado commuters face another round of SR-75 lane closures this week, with additional Saturday morning shutdowns on Aug. 22 as the median improvement project pushes toward a November finish.

The SR-75 Median Improvement Project between Pomona Avenue and Rendova Road continues to narrow traffic through the city. One lane in each direction adjacent to the median is closed Monday through Friday, 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., according to the city's project page. The project, which began staging April 13, includes new landscaping and irrigation, LED street lighting, a modernized electrical system, enhanced drainage and median widening near the Recreation Center and pool. Pedestrian safety work at Avenida de las Arenas includes removal of the north-side crosswalk and installation of compliant barricades.

Substantial completion is anticipated by November.

On Saturday, Aug. 22, the northbound SR-75 connector to northbound I-5 will close from 3 a.m. to 8 a.m. for drainage cleaning, according to a city advisory on Caltrans maintenance work. The rightmost lane on southbound SR-75 (inbound) will also close Saturday from 5 a.m. to 11 a.m. for under-bridge inspection truck repairs. Budget adopted, details pending

Coronado's fiscal year 2026-27 budget is now in effect, the city confirmed in its Aug. 21 City Manager's Update. The adopted budget funds city services, programs, capital projects and community investments, according to a city video explainer. Specific dollar figures, revenue changes and new spending priorities have not been released in a public summary.

Fall weather preparedness

The City Manager's Update also flags fall weather preparedness as a priority. The most concrete step so far: Coronado's new $32 million Parker Pump Station is complete after more than three years of construction, the Coronado Times reported Aug. 20. The station replaces infrastructure originally built in 1983 and was finished ahead of an expected severe El Niño winter.

The city also noted its free Summer Shuttle remains available to residents.
