I Love A Clean San Diego is recruiting 5,000 volunteers for the 42nd annual Coastal Cleanup Day on Saturday, Sept. 19, and Coronado residents can sign up for a site near home.

The countywide effort runs from 9 a.m. to noon at about 100 locations, including beaches, canyons, rivers and parks, according to the nonprofit. Registration opened Sept. 1. Individuals, families, school groups, scout troops and corporate teams are all eligible.

The organization, known as ILACSD, has coordinated San Diego County's role in the International Coastal Cleanup since 1985. Over four decades, the effort has drawn more than 270,000 volunteers who removed over 5 million pounds of litter and debris from the natural environment, according to ILACSD.

The full site list, registration and details are available at cleanupday.org or by calling (619) 291-0103.
