Coronado nonprofit Emerald Keepers will host its Sip 'N Support fundraiser on Thursday, Sept. 17, at the Coronado Tasting Room at Ferry Landing.

The event runs from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. Tickets cost $30 per person or $50 for two and include one drink ticket and light appetizers, according to the organization's announcement. A silent auction and a first look at new limited-edition Emerald Keepers merchandise round out the evening.

Coronado High School student interns will take the stage to present their environmental passion projects. The intern program pairs CHS students with the nonprofit to work on sustainability issues ranging from single-use plastic reduction to environmental education. Emerald Keepers interns have also led eco camps introducing elementary school children to environmental stewardship.

Board President Dave Landon will preview the organization's plans for the months ahead, though specific details have not been released.

"I think education is one of the main ways to help," Dhara Jost, then a CHS sophomore and Emerald Keepers intern, said in an April 2024 Coronado 365 Magazine article. "If people understand how they can help, it raises the chances of them actually following through with it."

Emerald Keepers was founded in 2019 by Amy Steward. The nonprofit describes itself as Coronado's only civic organization focused solely on environmental stewardship and sustainability. Its work has included championing the Circuit shuttle, helping secure a single-use plastic reduction ordinance the city adopted in February 2025 and collaborating with Coronado Unified School District to end plastic water bottle sales in school cafeterias in 2023.

Executive Director Tim Chin has outlined four priority areas for the organization: water, waste, air and energy. Emerald Keepers also publishes weekly ocean water and air quality reports for Coronado using San Diego County data and air monitors placed on homes around the island, according to the organization's website.

A previous Emerald Keepers fundraiser drew about 120 attendees.
