The Coronado Woman's Club nearly tripled its membership during its 2025–2026 year and gave more than $21,000 to local causes.

The 79-year-old civic organization grew from 25 to 74 members, according to a club announcement published Aug. 31 in the Coronado Eagle & Journal. The club welcomed 24 new members while expanding its philanthropic and social programs across Coronado and greater San Diego.

Among the year's signature contributions: two $2,500 scholarships awarded to graduating seniors at Coronado High School. The club also collected peanut butter for a local food pantry, gathered baby items for STEP and hosted community shredding and electronic-waste collection events.

Twice during the year, members prepared homemade meals and desserts for women staying at a downtown San Diego shelter, then delivered and served the food in person.

Membership Chair Ana Magdaleno told the Coronado Times in April that members range from 29 to 103 years old. "CWC is a vibrant and welcoming community, bringing together women from all walks of life, and we are excited to have recently welcomed our first male member as well," Magdaleno said at the time.

The oldest of those members, Helen Alexander, celebrated her 103rd birthday during the club year.

Beyond charitable work, the club stayed busy with happy hours, floral programs, Concert in the Park gatherings and a new needlecraft section. A Bunco game night paired club members with Coronado High School seniors, and members helped set up the club's booth and classify plant entries at the annual Coronado Flower Show.

Club President Kathy Fink leads the organization into its 2026–2027 year, which opens with a luncheon on Wednesday, Sept. 2, from 11:30 a.m. to 1:15 p.m. at Stake Chophouse & Bar. Lunch costs $35 per person. The restaurant requires a headcount in advance, so anyone interested should contact the club before the luncheon.

The club meets the first Wednesday of each month, September through June, at Stake Chophouse.

Founded in 1947, the Coronado Woman's Club is planning a special 80th anniversary luncheon in March 2027.
