Coronado's tourism district board will review its fiscal year 2026 budget and get an update on a proposed visitor Information Hub when it meets Thursday, Sept. 3.

The Discover Coronado/CTID Advisory Board gathering starts at 2 p.m. in the Winn Room of the Coronado Public Library, 640 Orange Ave., according to the posted agenda.

Two discussion items top the agenda: a report on Information Hub developments and a report on the FY26 budget with direction from board members.

Information Hub update

The Information Hub concept, presented to the City Council on June 2, would create a staffed physical space shared by Discover Coronado and the Coronado Chamber of Commerce. The space would offer directions, local event information and community resources through digital and printed materials, according to Coronado NewsCA.

The approved FY2026-27 CTID management plan set aside $215,000 from District I funds for the project. If the hub is not pursued, those funds would go toward other community needs, Coronado NewsCA reported.

Councilmember Kelly Purvis raised concerns at the June 2 meeting about the lack of a detailed plan for the hub and said she hoped to see continued updates.

Budget backdrop

The CTID is funded by a 1 percent assessment on overnight stays at four Coronado hotels: the Hotel del Coronado, Loews Coronado Bay Resort, the Coronado Island Marriott Resort & Spa and the Glorietta Bay Inn. The Coronado Times reported in March that the assessments are projected to generate $2.3 million in 2027.

At a March 17 City Council meeting, council members questioned the size and use of a roughly $1.2 million reserve fund and the share of spending going toward visible citywide projects, the Coronado Times reported.

Executive Director Todd Little proposed an additional $300,000 from District I reserves for community projects through fiscal year 2029 as part of the updated management plan presented June 2. The City Council unanimously approved the plan and reauthorized the levy assessments at that meeting.

Recent board action

At its Aug. 6 meeting, the advisory board voted 8-0 to spend $61,000 from District I reserves to extend PR and influencer marketing strategies through June 2027.

The board also heard results from FY26 leisure marketing campaigns. Yifei Yi of marketing agency 62Above told the board the campaigns produced 13.9 million impressions and 78,000 website visits, with 10,280 hotel visits attributed to the ads.

Little outlined findings from a recent internal audit of the organization's accounts payable, banking and reserve systems at that meeting. Board members Rena Clancy and Carlos Rodriguez Duran volunteered for a new reserve subcommittee created in response to the audit.

The board's next meeting after Sept. 3 is Thursday, Oct. 1, at 2 p.m. in the same location.
