A four-week beginner Texas Hold'em class starts Tuesday, Oct. 6, at the John D. Spreckels Center in Coronado.
The course runs Tuesdays from 5 to 6 p.m. through Oct. 27 at the city-run center, 1019 Seventh St. It covers the rules of Texas Hold'em, basic strategy and practice hands, according to the Coronado Times.
No experience is necessary. No actual gambling is involved.
The city bills the class as an introduction to one of the most popular card games, open to all skill levels. Cost ranges from $25 to $37, depending on resident and senior discounts.
The Spreckels Center already hosts a regular lineup of game-oriented programming, according to the Coronado News. Pool table play runs Saturdays from 10 a.m. to noon. American Mah Jongg meets Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays from noon to 3 p.m. Pinochle and Mexican Train open play fills Wednesdays from 1 to 5 p.m., and Creative Party Games take place Thursdays from 4 to 6 p.m.
