A recovery studio and wellness marketplace has opened at 1330 Orange Ave. in Coronado's Plaza shopping center.

Brio Recovery Studio and Wellness Market, first reported by the Coronado Times, held its soft opening Monday, Sept. 21, on the plaza's patio. The business offers six therapy rooms and a retail marketplace stocked with health-focused products.

Owner Michelle Williams told the Times the business grew out of a personal health scare. She learned one of her arteries was 70 to 80 percent blocked, which led to a stent procedure and a turn toward functional medicine.

"I wanted to open something where I could help educate people on health … provide modalities that are healing and overall wellness specific," Williams told the Times.

Williams grew up in Laguna Beach and lived in Little Italy before moving to Coronado in January. She told the Times that Coronado reminded her of her hometown. She has owned several businesses previously.

Services and marketplace

The studio side offers infrared sauna, red light therapy, a salt room, IV therapy and vitamin injections, PEMF (pulsed electromagnetic field) therapy and compression therapy. Licensed registered nurses administer the IV treatments, and the business has a medical director, according to the Times.

The marketplace carries supplements, skincare, local candles and other products. Williams told the Times the shop stocks no items containing seed oils or cane sugar.

A patio will host community gatherings, speaker events and private bookings.

Memberships and hours

Brio offers four monthly tiers:

  • Reset — $119, six recovery sessions and one guest pass
  • Restore — $169, 12 sessions and one guest pass
  • Thrive — $219, 18 sessions, one guest pass and one B12 injection
  • Unlimited — $329, unlimited sessions, two guest passes and two B12 injections

Those memberships cover the sauna, red light therapy, salt room, PEMF and compression therapy. Separate IV therapy memberships will also be available.

The first 50 members to sign up receive half off their first month as founding members.
