The Friends of the Coronado Public Library will stage a 1930s Hollywood murder mystery dinner on Friday, Nov. 13. The interactive whodunit takes over the library's Winn Room from 6:30 to 9 p.m.

The premise: a murder at the estate of a fictional character named Sir Warren Peace. Guests play detective, gathering clues, questioning suspects and trying to identify the killer before the evening ends. Organizers encourage 1930s Hollywood attire, the Coronado Times reported.

Tickets cost $70 per person and include dinner and drinks. The event is open only to guests 21 and older. Seating is limited, advance tickets are required, and no discounts apply, according to the Friends group's event page.

The ticket deadline is Friday, Nov. 6.

Proceeds support Coronado Public Library programs, collections, resources and services, the Friends group said on its event page.

Carl Luna, president of the Friends of the Coronado Public Library, described the group's fundraising mission in a September statement ahead of a separate Friends event. "Every membership, donation, and Friends Bookstore purchase helps us support the programs, collections, events, and resources that serve readers and learners of all ages," Luna said at the time.

Luna's comments came before the group's Member Meet & Greet on Sept. 19 but reflect the same mission behind all Friends fundraisers, including the mystery dinner.
